It tells the story of Jakub Szela, a peasant insurgent. His often vicious and bloody actions were aimed at the manor and serf system in the Polish lands, in Western Galicia. The attitudes of the leftist poet Brunon Jasieński and the peasant rebel Jakub Szela were ambiguous and complicated.
