This is our second chance even though right now it certainly doesn’t seem that way. I turn to you and though the ringing in your ears has not ceased, you can feel the noise. The volume has become so intense, almost violent in its severity. Chaos has clutched our lives. You look so frightened, but your strength overwhelms me.

"Can you see anyone else?" you scream. Feeling the urgency of the moment you call for me, "Here, over here! John, help me!" I rush to your aid with blind optimism, in this split second I am filled with hope. Adrenalin rushes through me, and then I arrive at your side.

With all your strength you are fighting to pull a body from what was our favorite café. I start helping remove the rubble as time slows and cripples. A moment feels like forever, it seems that the rubble is never ending. One by one and side by side we struggle to save this life, as if to somehow feel more alive ourselves, only to be greeted by the lifeless body of a mother and the dying breath of her baby daughter.

"How can it now, or ever, feel like our second chance?" you exhale in shock, "I really don’t know!"
