The sea was calm, the sky was clear As the sun was rising above the sails The signs were read, the gods on our side For glory and victory on our sea raid
So we set forth into the open sea The wind in our sails, hope in our hearts Oðinn n’ Thor, the almighty gods Gave power and strength to us all on our sea raid
Short the travel, forever our glory Where to strike, we have been told The gold of the English will make us Proud and merciless on our sea raid
Then one morning we saw the shores A monastery, we set thitherto They wouldn’t know what happened to them Like a storm we were on our sea raid
With fury and rage we fight on the shore Oðinn guide our swords on this raid of Lindisfarne
We turned their cross upside down We took their gold and jewellery We took all things worth we’d found As rich men we would return from our sea raid
All the monks were killed or enslaved We burned their church and buildings down Their foreign god wasn’t there to protect The slaying of christian souls on our sea raid
As we set sail towards our home We praised our gods for victory All our men, our warriors Are proud to have been there on our sea raid
Finally we came back home After our raid on the English shores If there’s one thing we know for sure We will be back again on our sea raid
With fury and rage we fight on the shore Oðinn guide our swords on this raid of Lindisfarne Teksty umieszczone na naszej stronie są własnością wytwórni, wykonawców, osób mających do nich prawa. |
