L/Len Graham/Daniel O'Connell and his Steam Engine
Come all ye gay fellows that wants to be men Come listen awhile unto what I declare Concerning what happened the other evening Just as we were all coming home from the fair. On crossing the moor, sure I met an old woman Sitting in a gap, she was milking her cow And the song that she sang was “Mo Bhuachaillín Dhonn” Or some other ditty I canna tell now.
Well, I hadn't been long discoursing the old woman When a fine jolly tinker by chance came my way And to rest he sat down, for the weather was warm “What news, honest man?” the old woman did say. “There is no news at all,” replied the bold tinker “Only one thing I wish it had never'd been Concerning the man they call Daniel O'Connell He is now getting children in Dublin by steam.”
“Ah, his soul to the Devil!” replied the old woman “For he is a rascal and that is for sure And he's always endeavouring and plotting and planning And finding out ways for to punish the poor. There are good men in Ireland as any in Europe And as clever fellows by land or by sea And they are as good men in ?? or battle And I'm very sure they were got the old way.”
“Ah, good luck to your courage,” replied the bold tinker “And long may you flourish with youth on your side And if the young girls in Ireland were like you O'Connell might lay the steam engine aside. For they are so loyal and strict to their duties If a young man looked at them they'd scratch out his eyes And then they would sit like old hides in their corner And no one to pray for their sins when they died”Teksty umieszczone na naszej stronie są własnością wytwórni, wykonawców, osób mających do nich prawa.
