The inner workings of a mind slowly dying.
Trapped inside a body overcome by disease.
Limbs fall to the ground as the mind loses sight.
Emptied of faith, stripped bare of control.

Illness first met with defiant resistance.
Resistance diminished to weakened despair.
Despair ushered in slow defeat.
Defeat let loose the wrath of the scourge!

The mind of a human, this used to be.
An anomalous example of thriving life.
Once in control, now charged with nothing.
A downward spiral of feeble decay.

Pain comes from nowhere, rending in waves.
Tearing and searing, ripping and boring.
Paralysis disables the body.
Leaving the mind naked and weak.

The internal struggle long since abandoned.
The plague lay waste to all means of refusal.
The body is gone, the mind will follow.
Wasting its time clinging to life.
