'The train now standing at Platform 12 is the 16:04 Southern service to Crystal Palace via Gipsy Hill. All stations via Crystal Palace'
There's a girl that's on my platform every day We smile but that's all cause there's nothing to say And I've seen her through all the changing seasons And I call her Platform Girl for obvious reasons
And there's an etiquette about a girl like her A code of conduct, a rulebook if you prefer You see, in my mind she's just a romantic ideal Someone who conjures great stories, never someone to feel I'm just happy to see her smile, she makes it a better world Platform, Platform Girl.
Even to talk to her would surely ruin the game I don't even wanna find out her name Cause to me she's someone without any flaws And there's something about the way she opens up train doors I'm just happy to see her smile, she makes it a better world Platform, Platform Girl
'Platform Girl listens to whimsical folky singer-songwriters from Bedford when she gets the chance. Which she heard once on a late night pirate radio station and took the trouble to track down and download. And Platform Girl's definately got a French mum and a Brazilian dad and she goes scuba diving and snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef when she gets the chance but she doesn't really like the people she goes there with. She's never really happier than when the fair comes to Crystal Palace park and she gets to go on the dodgems on her own. But she always seems to pick the one car that doesn't work and that man has to come round and drag her all the way round but really that's when she's most happy'.
