Ever conniving the peddler offers a gift with his wares
Goods for coin, wisdom for free
“Freedom is your power to purchase from me”

Enter the priest
“Deny the state or be apostastate”
His tales a gateway for fools
In the stream of commerce let loose

The Sovereign shall not be denied!
Shred the veil
Open the tome for all to see
Let the inscriptions fade
Let the apologists bleed

Demagogue
Plant the seed
Exploit the flock
Wool for free

Such is the plight of the pauper
To the priest and peddler a schmuck
Sold the tale a thousand times over
His toil too little, too short on good luck
But the rule of god and coin
Forever at odds with our ends most sublime
Shall be usurped by the will of the sovereign

Our will shall not be denied!
The banner languidly falls
The paupers gather outside
Chalice smacked from the hand
The tale of the priest and peddler denied
