on flaming winds fly embers from the east
prism clouds gild the pyroplastic air
pillars of smoke and ash arise from summer's altar
charred bones in steel and glass upon the pyre

relentless tides encroaching upon the shore
immemorial waters, reclaiming sediment and life
eroding clay to dust, dissolved into tears

senses fade to echoes in the deep
ground glass lung, weakened stridor
fear sweats, drowned in pathogenesis
succumb to the self-inflicted storm
