Eco capitalism is an answer to the resistance carried out by the ecological movement in the XXth century against the capitalist system. It is also an effort to extend capitalism and capitalist values to areas up till now independent. Being the basis of economic globalization, it introduces trade and market into further domains of our lives – more and more regions of the South are drained by global economy and new life spheres of Western societies
Public relation agencies create an illusion, that corporations are interested in protecting the environment, so that exploitation is harder to recognize.
Create a conviction, that privatization of drinking water will give it value and will prevent it’s ill use, that genetically modified food will solve the problem of hunger. Correcting the public image they increase income. Their faith in the ‘sacred market’ hasn’t been shaken.
The company won’t invest where adjusting to local environmental laws would be too expensive. That’s why a global law tool must be created. The Climatic Convention is a part of it.
Do we really want to live in a world, where all decisions concerning our lives are being made in respect to profits?
