Out from the dark, Charlotte walks through thick fog. Its heavy, black cloak feels to her like home. She raises her face to the sky. The wind whips across her face, reminding her of every fight she'd had with a demon of the night.
As she approaches the small town, a mass of people stand in wait. Though the hour is very late, they need her help at once. Before Count Byron attacks again, they must find a way to defeat him. Charlotte stops just outside the gate and tries to introduce herself.
The mayor turns before she says a single word. No time for them to stall. Nightfall is there. Each night brings fear. Fear for the people of the town that Count Byron will come and drink their blood. Or worse - make them like him. Into demons of the night. Before their horrid kind finds themselves extinct.
Approaching town hall, in the center of the room, each person from the town places a pile of coins down. “I hope this is enough,” says the mayor of the town. “It should be,” Charlotte coldly replies, piling the money into her bag. “Tell me about your big bad.” As she says those simple words, an unnerving smirk crosses her face. Everyone in the room steps back, wondering if they've just hired a monster to solve their monster problem. The smile of a killer.
