Goddess Beira once had a maid
Her name was Nessa
She was beautiful and young

Goddess Beira once had a well
And it happened every night
That the water would overflow

It was Nessa's one task
Every night to cover the well
But tonight she is late

When she drew near she beheld
Water raging down the mountain
So she turned and ran for her life

But goddess Beira was watching
From her mountain throne and cried
"You have not covered the well!

The sun has fallen from the sky and

And the water is overflowing!

Now every year on this night
Nessa rises from the water
You can hear her sing a sad song
