Sleep on night's silent sleep Feel the chill growing
Fear begins as darkness comes and mummy calls goodnight There's something in the bedroom here that doesn't feel quite right
Snuggled up in bed so warm safe inside from nighttime's storm The sandman tries to spread the land of dreams Soft footsteps creak behind the door A coldness crawls across the floor All forcing her to open up her eyes There's shadows dancing on the wall Noises come from down the hall Don't toss and turn my little one There's rest for those who sleep
The pictures dark around the room Reveal a hidden mystery No comfort flows behind the artist's hand She pulls the covers overhead A feeling safe inside her bed But something tugs and makes her want to see
The toybox lid is opening A soft mist creeps across the edge Inside a thousand sleeping secrets slowly now awake
Out jumps Jack from out the box Upon the rocking horse he rocks it to and fro Smiling as the creatures of the night Emerge from darkened walls Building blocks and bouncing balls Are thrown from every corner of the room
Clockwork toys without a key begin to whirr and click upon the windowsill And down below the harlequins are dancing round and round the chair The sound of chilling laughter fills the air Puppets with no strings attached pull and kick at teddy without care They're knocking out the stuffing from this bear The dolls house comes to life and inside toytown man and wife Are screaming at the children yet again
Then just as madness reached it's towering high "Stop!" cried Jack “there's something wrong” And pointing to the bed Reveals the one who should be sleeping still awake
Screams of joy and laughter fill the air while on the floor the toys await As Jack dismounts his trusty seed Then one by one towards the bed they climb upon the covers each intent On mischief borne from deep inside "Come my little one come to my breast I will comfort you upon your journey's end Fear not little one I am your love Will you walk with me upon the road to hell” She runs from the bed towards the door but finds it locked She is trapped within the shadows on the wall Then covering in the corner of the room she hides her eyes From the smiling wooden faces of her fear
"Right now me hearty lads” cried Jack to the toys "It is time to see who judges here at night Who wants first blood drawn from the hearth Of the innocence that shakes at my feet"
"No!" she cries and jumps With reaching hands clutching air Her fingers catch the reins of Jack's own rocking horse Then lightning strikes and thunder cracks And fighting for life The stallion wakes from its wooden hearted sleep "Climb upon my back and we will fly from this nightmare That threatens you from deep within the dark" Then straight for the window they crash through the glass Soaring high over Kensington park so high the fly
Ghosts and white horses dance Flying high she reaches out to touch The falling rain as warm as tears Then wind drawn from a thousand unseen choirs of angels Ruffles through her hair The feeling soothes away her fears Giant stairways that spiral to the sky leading nowhere That anyone should ever dare to go Curtains of slow motion lace and nightmares Wave to her from windows that disappear below She hears the laughter echo in the haunted filagree The screams that chase "Come back my pretty dove" Faster now and higher now Faster my love and we will reach the stars that sparkle high above Up through the clouds and through the night Soft freedom on an endless flight She grasps the horses mane with all her joy But something strange is happening here Jack's voice cries out so loud so clear "It's time for you return to me my toy" The stallion turns and smiles at her staring deep She feels the hand of Jack Drawing out her every breath Then slowly upwards turning round The child looses grip and falls to ground Yet one so small to conquer death
I never promised you a happy ending... Teksty umieszczone na naszej stronie są własnością wytwórni, wykonawców, osób mających do nich prawa. |
