In the upper room, the disciples sat and waited
After Jesus had ascended, 10 days later
He had told us not to leave there till the promise
Of the Father, by the Spirit, you’ll be baptized
We wait in this place till the Spirit arrives
Wait in this place till the Spirit comes from on high
He said nothing can deter you from your mission
You’ll get power when the Spirit comes upon you
He will teach you things about me you’ll remember
You will boldly preach the message to the nations

We wait in this place for the Spirit of Christ
Wait in this place ‘til the Spirit comes from on high
Pentecost came, we were praying all together
Down from Heaven came a noise like violent rushing
Like a wind it filled the house where we were praying
Tongues of fire came upon us; we were baptized
We leave from this place with the Gospel of Christ
Into the world with the Spirit come from on high
