There are few alive who know the tale,
Of the sea god's cursed treasure and the men who failed.
Though hundreds had ventured seeking its prize,
I am the only one who returned alive.
We ran through the docks with supplies and wine,
With all men on deck we cast off the line.
We then left the port at the crack of dawn,
With my vessel and crew, I once more sail on.
Now, lads, let's sail away.
Through the winds and the waves, we shall not stray.
Beckoned by treasure's call,
We've fought pirates and sea beasts and we've slained them all.
But the greatest bounty there's ever been,
Is fast approaching now
And we shall reach our journey's end,
With our hearts to the ocean and eyes on the bow.
The men weighed anchor on the forbidden cove,
And through foreign sands they gallantly strove.
But confronted they were by a hermit of old,
Who raised staff to the sky and sternly foretold...
"Turn back, for this venture will end in your doom,
And your pride will afford you a watery tomb."
But they scoffed at his words as they journeyed away,
To recover the treasure of legend that day.
Now, lads, let's sail away.
Through the winds and the waves we shall not stray.
We no longer need gems or gold,
For the treasure of gods is ours to behold.
We have found the great ones with greedy hoard,
And snatched it from their hands.
Let us drink and cheer on this journey's end,
And with plunder untold we'll return to our lands.
They sailed for home with glimmering eyes,
Eager to spend the newly gained prize.
Then a wave a hundred miles in length,
Crashed down upon them with perilous strength.
The hull broke apart, splitting the ship in two,
And the ocean current began encircling the crew.
A whirlpool consumed them ending their lives,
Of the vagrant heart's men, only I survive.
Now, lads, let's sail away.
Through the winds and the waves till my dying day.
Punished by gods for a venture too bold,
But they've spared me my life so this tale can be told.
For the greatest bounty I've ever seen,
Came with the greatest price.
And my ship and crew reached journey's end,
On the altar of greed I laid this sacrifice.
