Landtaker
Oh, these sounds of life - unheard in our world long lost Beauty and majesty - to withstand heat and bitter frost
Our havens flourish, but the unknown locks us in With God by our side may our new lives now begin We create, we take, we burn all with our strongest men We multiply and subdue every creature to walk these lands
Plants with enthralling scent Trees that strangely bend Birds that sing their song And the wild man speaks his unknown tongue
I dream
Here is no place of disaffection Time before and time after In a dim light.
Investing form of lucid stillness Turning shadows into transient beauty
Desiccation of the world of sense Evacuation of the world of fancy
Inoperancy of the world of spirit
I awaken
It is the devil who has deceived me I will be thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet are I will be tormented day and night forever and ever
One with nature, one with plants, trees and birds The wisdom of old. Prepared for what is to come I cannot but stare and listen in awe to these strange men But I am alone
My longings grow... NO! My dreams confuse me This wild man of these ancient woods - A devil! - Devoid of any good! They come and stare in awe at our mighty forts When their spears and arrows find no aim but steadfast walls
Oh, unheard of before in these sounds of age-old lore Beauty and majesty - to withstand primitive infancy
Our havens flourish and the unknown’s free of sin This is our home now and widespread is God’s kin We create, we take, we take with our strongest men We enforce God’s will for he is the ruler of all lands
Yet my dreams return and godless they may seem But I see good when the wild men fish their streams When they sing their songs, and teach a child to carve a bone Is this the word of God in wilderness set in stone?
